Support The Smiths

We are Barry & Jennifer Smith. We have been friends since childhood and have 4 beautiful children, Lance (18), Kaitlyn (17), Conor (9) and Reagan (7). We were both born and raised in Central Florida. We are active in our church having sang in the choir, taught preschoolers in AWANA for 7 years, taught 4th and 7th grade Sunday school, lead VBS, served in the bed baby nursery and lead children’s choir.

We both have felt a desire to move to the mountains for many years. We always thought North Carolina was the mountain area we would someday call home, but God had a different mountain range in mind.

In the summer of 2012, our thinking began to change about where we might move our family. We began to look further west. The more we researched, the more Utah kept coming up over and over again. At the same time, we began to feel as though God was speaking to us about the move. We felt that Utah was where God was leading us but not just for the view, for ministry. We began to pray for clarity and direction. God answered those prayers in numerous and amazing ways!

As we began to look at what God was calling us to do, Mormonism became a clear focus of that calling. We started to study LDS doctrine. We lead classes on Mormonism at our church. We began to pray that God would move in a mighty way through the LDS church and bring many to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. During it all, God cultivated a real heart and love for the LDS people in both of us.

During that time, we met with a group of ex-Mormons; the band Adam’s Road. They were so very encouraging and helpful. Once again, God answered prayer through that meeting. The guys from Adam’s Road put us in touch with Utah Partnerships for Christ. We met via Skype with Russ and Tammy East and immediately KNEW that UPFC is where God wanted to us serve. In February 2013, we had an opportunity to travel to Utah and work with UPFC and a mission team from Scottsdale, AZ. It was further confirmation that God has been molding us for this ministry for a long time.

We are currently very busy as we try to raise the funds needed to support our future full time ministry with UPFC while still finishing up our commitments in Florida and raising our 4 children. We have set a moving date of July 29th and plan to be in Utah by the beginning of August. Our goal is to raise $5,000 per month to allow for full time ministry. We are confident that God will provide all our needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Please pray for the financial needs we face, the move of our family across the country and most importantly that God would use us to reach many for Christ.
